Jen Houck - The Internet Marketing Chic
Jennifer Houck began her journey as a work at home mom in March of 2003. She was slated to go back to her full-time corporate job in the middle of March which was the end of her maternity leave. There was no way she could continue to be a slave to her corporate job and let them call all the shots in her life. The term telecommuting kept coming up when she began her search online for potential jobs she could complete at home.
By April 2003, her telecommuting career was launched. She could have not been happier for these companies allowing her to represent them professionally in the own comfort of her home. The telecommuting companies allowed Jen to gain experience in several areas over the 2 years of her telecommuting career. Jen was filled with happiness, but still felt she had a void to fill. Her body was yearning for one more leap in her career. Jen finally was seeing a true entrepreneurial spirit growing in her. This is when another online search took place for potential businesses Jen could own.
The terms Virtual Assistant started showing up and this is when she crossed paths with Nell Taliercio once again. Nell inspired Jen with her VA business & it inspired Jen to launch her own virtual doors in the winter of 2005.
Jen is now the owner of Blue Ridge Virtual Assistance. She opened the business in the winter of 2005. Jen put up her site and thought ok, where are the clients? Boy, was Jen ever in for a surprise. She had launched her business expecting for people to run to her without her ever having to lay a hand in any of the groundwork. This is why Jen is so compelled to help others. She wants other moms to avoid the mistakes she made and begin a successful business the correct way.
After a couple months with her virtual doors open, Jen reevaluated her business and started it the right way. Soon after applying marketing efforts and gaining more clients, her business exploded. The word of mouth and networking really play a part in Jen gaining clients to excel her business.
In December of 2005, Jen was able to resign from all telecommuting gigs and focus full-time on the Virtual Assistant Business. Since December, Jen has seen full-time income levels month after month.
In July of 2006, Blue Ridge Virtual Assistance decided to zone in on their niche. Jen solely concentrates on Internet Marketing for her clients.
